Project Overview

Deegits Technology Ltd partnered with LION Trust to design and deploy a comprehensive ERP Hospital Management System for Lion Hospital in Malawi. The project set out to eliminate paper-based processes, unify every clinical department onto a single platform, and give management a real-time operational picture.

The Challenge

Lion Hospital was managing patient records, pharmacy stock, laboratory requests, and billing across disconnected manual systems. Data was duplicated, errors were frequent, and there was no single view of hospital performance. The goal was to digitise the entire patient journey — from walk-in registration to discharge billing — while keeping the system accessible for staff with varying IT experience.

Modules Delivered

• Patient Registration & Triage — Digital patient records, photo capture, medical history, and A&E fast-track intake.
• Nurses' Vitals & Monitoring — Bedside vital sign recording, observation charts, and ward handover notes.
• Doctors' Tools — Diagnosis workflow, prescription writer, referral module, and clinical notes with audit trail.
• Pharmacy Management — Drug dispensing, stock control, expiry tracking, and prescription fulfilment.
• Laboratory & Radiology — Test request routing, result entry, and automated notifications to requesting clinicians.
• Operation Theatre — Theatre scheduling, pre-op checklists, and post-op documentation.
• Admission & Ward Management — Bed allocation, in-patient tracking, and discharge processing.
• Billing & Multi-Scheme Support — Itemised billing, insurance scheme integration, and receipt generation.
• Assets & Prosthetics (P&O) — Medical equipment inventory and prosthetic/orthotic department records.
• Technical Support Ticketing — In-house helpdesk for staff to report and track IT issues.

Outcome

The system went live across all departments, replacing paper forms and fragmented spreadsheets with a single, role-based digital platform. Patient wait times at registration dropped significantly, billing errors were eliminated, and management gained an executive dashboard with live KPIs across every department.
